What do we buy?
At BookSmart, we know that good used books will become an important part of our business. Although we may someday pay cash for books and DVDs we are currently only offering store credit on books (20% of the cover price of the book rounded to up the nearest nickel. For DVDs we will pay 10% of the list price). We will issue you a BookSmart VIP credit card just for this purpose. We are very selective about condition and title as we will see many more books and DVDs than we can possibly buy, so we basically buy on principles of supply and demand: if people still want to read it, and we don't have too many, we'll buy it. We do not currently buy text books. We cannot buy or make offers off of a list or over the phone/email and cannot look at more books then you can bring in at one time in a cloth grocery size bag.
Please do not leave us any "gifts" at the front door or in the parking lot!
What we do NOT buy?
- Serial romances
- Reader's Digest condensed books
- Books that are underlined or highlighted
- Books that are out of date (older computer books, out-of-date travel guides, fad diet books no longer in demand, older business books, not so current events. etc.)
- Children's picture books that are not in pristine condition.
How much do you pay for books?
Although someday we may pay cash for books and DVDs we are currently offering store credit (20% of the cover price of the book rounded to up the nearest nickel. For DVDs we will pay 10% of the list price). We will issue you or increment a BookSmart gift card just for this purpose.
Do you travel to buy books?
Yes but on a very limited basis. They must be current and in demand.
Will you take the books that neither of us need or want?
